What is the Namo Shetkari Scheme?

Maharashtra Government sent an amount of ₹ 2000 as first phase financial assistance under Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi Scheme to the accounts of authorized farmers of the state on 26 October 2023. 86 lakh farmers benefited from this first tranche, for which a huge amount of Rs 1720 crore was allocated by the government. After receiving the first installment in the farming community of Maharashtra, now the second installment is awaited. The state government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 6000 per year to the farmers under this scheme, which is given in three equal installments. The first tranche was disbursed on 26 October 2023. Given the gap of four months, delivery of the second tranche is expected in February 2024. According to sources, the second installment of Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi Yojana is likely to be released in the last week of February.
